Keeping hens
Keeping rescued hens can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. From the first few days when they venture outside, to witnessing their individual personalities develop and seeing them enjoying the life they deserve.
As with any pet it is important to make sure you know what you are taking on and to have the right equipment. Because of the conditions these hens have lived in they can be vulnerable and may need special attention to begin with.
There is lots of information on keeping ex-battery hens on the internet and a number of friendly forums. One of the most comprehensive sites is Hen Rehomers which offers lots of advice and information plus links to forums and other sites.
Practical Poultry is also an excellent site with a very good forum and there is lots of information on the Ex-Battery Hen Forum.
